In order to streamline the review process of Survey Papers, and to avoid having authors spend time writing articles that may not be of interest to Automatica readers, people who wish to write a Survey Paper should first submit a paper proposal of three pages or less.
The proposal needs to make a convincing case that the proposed Survey will be of interest to readers. Breadth of the survey, its focus on subject matter that is central to the publishing mission of Automatica, and the qualifications of the proposed authors will be important factors in the Editorial Board's review of proposals.
The Editorial Board of Automatica makes every effort to review these proposals quickly, usually within a week or two. A decision is then made as to whether authors should be encouraged to the development and submission of a full paper.
